Personal household services and other forms of residential support have the objective to support a person (or a group of persons) to live as independently as possible, and as long as possible. It is one of the support services that make community-based living possible for many persons with disabilities and elderly persons throughout Europe.
This service may be provided to elderly persons, persons with disabilities, persons who find themselves temporarily in need following to an accident, mothers who have given birth, or to support families in their work/life balance.
The type of services will vary, depending on the needs of each client, but may include:
- cleaning, cooking and janitorial services
- personal hygiene support services (e.g. dressing up / showering)
- financial and administrative support
- shopping services
- medical services
- education for everyday life-skills
